The project

Electropages is a global electronics publication serving engineers, procurement professionals and manufacturers. Its established industry presence provided a strong starting point, but there was an opportunity to connect its publishing activity more closely with search demand.

My focus was to bring content strategy, technical SEO and measurement together, giving the publication a clearer way to attract relevant readers and understand which content was working.

The challenge

Publishing was heavily driven by press releases and announcements. Organic growth was plateauing, while the planning and structure needed to support further search growth were inconsistent.

  • Limited targeting of the questions and search intent behind electronics topics.
  • Weak connections between related articles and subject areas.
  • Inconsistent metadata, page structure and on-page optimisation.
  • A need for clearer measurement of individual content performance.

The strategic decision

Put search demand at the centre of topic planning, with greater emphasis on useful evergreen content. That meant giving readers a reason to discover an article beyond its initial news value.

My approach

The work covered three connected areas, from choosing the right topics to making their performance easier to assess.

01 · Content strategy

Plan around search demand

I introduced keyword-led topic planning and mapped informational and commercial intent across core electronics verticals. This gave the content strategy a clearer basis for deciding which subjects to cover and how related pieces should connect.

  • Developed topic clusters around priority subject areas.
  • Prioritised evergreen coverage with continuing relevance.
  • Aligned content planning with the needs behind the search.

02 · Technical foundations

Strengthen the structure around the content

The technical work addressed how content was organised, linked and presented to search engines. Internal linking and clearer page hierarchy supported the editorial changes.

  • Improved crawl efficiency and indexing.
  • Strengthened links between related pages and topics.
  • Refined metadata and content hierarchy across high-value pages.

03 · Content performance

Make performance useful to editorial decisions

I introduced tracking at page level and refined content formatting, readability and the routes readers could take to related articles. This connected performance review with practical changes to the reader experience.

  • Reviewed performance at individual page level.
  • Improved layouts and formatting for easier reading.
  • Created clearer pathways to relevant follow-on content.

What changed

The project reported a 300% increase in organic traffic, a 54% improvement in bounce rate and a 62% increase in session duration. The publication also recorded consistent quarter-on-quarter traffic growth and increased visibility across high-intent electronics keywords.

Beyond the headline figures, Electropages had a more structured approach to organic acquisition: clearer editorial priorities, stronger connections between content and more useful performance accountability.

Key takeaway

Content planning, site structure and measurement need to work together. In this project, improving the connections between them gave search a clearer role in the publication’s wider growth strategy.

A stronger publishing foundation

The outcome was a publishing model with a clearer connection between audience demand, content investment and measurable performance. Technical SEO and ongoing content optimisation became part of that model, alongside a more deliberate approach to evergreen coverage.
